SC4 honor society chapter recognized regionally

The Lambda Mu chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society at St. Clair County Community College was recognized as a top chapter during the society’s Michigan Region Convention.

SC4 students, alumni and chapter advisors attended the 21st annual convention, which was May 21, 22 and 23 at Macomb Community College in Warren.

The chapter was recognized for the 20th straight year as a Five Star Chapter, the highest rank a chapter can achieve. The chapter also was honored as one of the top 100 chapters worldwide.

The chapter also won:
  • First-place in the Chapter Yearbook category.
  • Third-place Leadership Hallmark Award.
  • The Spirit Stick, in a competition for the best roll call performance at the convention.
Individual chapter member honored was:
  • Christine Day of Port Huron, who won the $250 Michigan Regional Alumni Association Golden Opportunity scholarship.
Chapter advisors honored were:
  • Lambda Mu Advisor and SC4 instructor Angela Heiden of Emmett Township, who received a Paragon Advisor Award.
  • Lambda Mu Co-advisor and SC4 Professor Thomas Obee of Columbus Township, who received a Distinguished Advisor Award and a Regional Coordinator Emeritus award.

Heiden and Obee also received honors at the Phi Theta Kappa International Convention in April.

Other SC4 students who attended the regional convention included Stacy Desimone of Marine City, Adam Dickinson of Burtchville Township, Victor Distelrath of China Township, Cody Henderson of Melvin, Greg Lane of Greenwood Township, Kim Lane of Greenwood Township, Denise Parr of Melvin, Twana Pinskey of Port Huron, Dan Wiley of Port Huron and Laura Wirgau of Marysville. Also attending were chapter alumni members Leslie Goudreau of Capac, Dan Martiny of Port Huron and Ken Mazzoline of Greenwood Township.
