SC4 to offer Emergency Medical Technician program

St. Clair County Community College’s Workforce Training Institute is offering an Emergency Medical Technician program this summer on the Port Huron campus.

The program will run Monday through Thursday from June 21 to Aug. 19. The course is a combination of classroom instruction and clinical hours both on the ambulance and in the emergency room.

The EMT program will give students the foundation of skills necessary to administer medical care and assessments in the field. Students will learn care for medical emergencies, airway assessment and management skills, spinal immobilization, use of automated external defibrillator and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Students must be age 18 or older and have a high school diploma or GED. Students also must have a physical, a negative five-panel drug screening, a negative TB test, a current tetanus shot and the Hepatitis B vaccination series started by the beginning of class.

Registration deadline is Wednesday, June 16. Call (810) 989-5788 to register or visit www.sc4.edu/preparetowork/.
