SC4 faculty honor James Berry

James Berry, professor of reading at St. Clair County Community College, was honored as the 2010 SC4 Distinguished Faculty Award winner.

The award is based on a faculty member’s personal and professional impact with students and colleagues and in the community. It is voted on by the entire faculty membership.

Berry of Port Huron began his career at the college in 1987.

He received the award during a staff breakfast ceremony Friday, May 7, on the Port Huron campus. The award also gets recognition during the college’s 86th annual Commencement ceremony.

Also nominated for the award was Robert Tansky of Fort Gratiot, professor of business administration, who has taught at SC4 since 1966.

Berry holds a bachelor of science in multidisciplinary social science from Michigan State University and a master of arts in teaching from John Carroll University.

Berry and his wife, Karolyn, have two adult sons.
