SC4 to present Alzheimer’s seminar

St. Clair County Community College’s Workforce Training Institute will offer an Alzheimer’s seminar designed for health care personnel and caregivers.

The professional development seminar will be held twice in April on the Port Huron campus. The seminar is set for 4:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, and again 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 27.

Presenter Betty Maxwell, a registered nurse with a master’s degree in gerontological nursing, will:

  • Discuss how Alzheimer’s disease/dementia progresses.
  • Describe how the disease is diagnosed and treated.
  • Identify challenges that a person with the disease faces each day.
  • Discuss strategies for caregivers.

Cost of the seminar is $39 and includes a meal. Registration is encouraged by Wednesday, April 14, for the April 20 session and Monday, April 19, for the April 27 session.
